With this cute farmhouse project, I choose a parquet solution for a home with an open floorplan. The entry, living room, family room, dining room, and kitchen is one big undivided space.
This made the flooring challenging. There was no good place for a transition strip between rooms, and there was no ‘correct’ direction for the planks to run. Any direction chosen for the planks would be correct in some areas, and wrong in others.
So, I opted for an unconventional solution: Installing the flooring in a parquet pattern.
The planks are large, 9inches by 48inches. But the space is large, too. So it worked out well.
It turned out striking.
